Steve's success story is inspiring as much as it is entertaining. From having major record label success to starting his own independent label, authoring and recording hit songs and music videos including multiple number ones such as the Waitin' on Joe featuring actor Morgan Freeman, coping with throat surgery during the pinnacle of his career, touring with Bob Seger, starting a music festival and a the charitable organization, all in the heart of the Mississippi Delta.

A native of Greenville, Mississippi, Steve Azar is a hit songwriter-recording artist, music producer, music industry consultant, keynote speaker, podcast/radio show host, record label founder and best-selling author. His music traverses a blend of country, blues, folk, and rock n’ roll, a genre he calls, "Delta Soul." Azar has had nine charted singles on Billboard Hot Country Songs and has released seven critically acclaimed studio albums.

An accomplished songwriter, Azar has had songs recorded by Reba McEntire, Danny Gokey, James House and Cedric Burnside among many others. He has written, and recorded songs for film and has been the music supervisor for several movies. “Doin’ It Right” (Delta Mix) off the album Delta Soul Volume One, was the feature track for Sony Pictures 2013 movie Here Comes the Boom starring Kevin James. Steve wrote “Fly”, the official song for the 2015 FIS Alpine World Ski Championships in Vail. His performance at the opening ceremonies reached an audience of one billion households. “Fly” was also used as the feature song for another Sony Pictures movie featuring Kevin James, Paul Blart Mall Cop 2.

Steve and his wife Gwen founded the Steve Azar St. Cecilia Foundation which produces the Delta Soul Celebrity Golf & Charity Event. Since its inception, the foundation has channeled over millions of dollars to many worthwhile causes in the Delta and beyond. Steve has additionally raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for charitable causes through the auctioning of songs. These songs are written for the highest bidder’s charity of choice. Steve has been ranked one of the top five musicians that play golf by Golf Digest Magazine numerous times. He is a frequent guest at charity golf tournaments across the country.

In October 2020, Azar released a compilation exclusive vinyl, CD and digital release titled My Mississippi Reunion featuring “One Mississippi” along with a collection of new and remastered songs, all about home. The album won the 2021 Mississippi Institute of Arts and Letters award for best contemporary album. In March 2022, legislature passed a bill to make “One Mississippi” the official state song and in April 2022 Governor Tate Reeves signed the bill into law. Azar published his first book, "One Mississippi", a children's book based on the song which made the #1 Best Seller list in Mississippi out of all children's books released nationwide. Azar was presented with the Lifetime Achievement award at the 2023 Mississippi Music Awards.

Azar is a featured artist with his song "Our Castle is Your Home" on the Grammy nominated Rock for Children, Vol 1 album also featuring legendary artists Alice Cooper, Judas Priest's Rob Halford, Steve Cropper, Slash, DMC and more. Azar serves as brand ambassador for the award-winning Dancing Rabbit Golf courses and Pearl River Resort in the rolling hills of Choctaw, Mississippi as well as Mississippi based food company Sherin Foods. In 2024, Steve launched the I Don't Have to Be Me ‘Til Monday Bloody Mary Mix, his own signature blend, appropriately named after his weekend anthem. "Steve Azar's Mississippi", Azar's resident show in his hometown of Greenville, is Viking Cruise line's number one rated show and event on the Mississippi.

In addition to speaking at national events and conferences, Steve serves as the "Artist in Residence" at the Delta Music Institute (DMI) at Delta State University, home of the new Grammy Museum Mississippi.
